Naturopathic medicine is for people of all ages and health histories who want to take their health into their own hands. It is a patient-centred approach, emphasizes preventative health, and supports the body using natural means to obtain wellness.
How the Treatment Works
Naturopathic Doctors focus not only on the symptoms of your health condition, but also on the underlying reasons causing the symptoms. The goal is to find the root cause of disease so that health can be restored as much as possible. Treatments are drawn from a number of modalities (therapies) and are tailored to the individual. Treatments may include nutrition and lifestyle counselling, supplements and botanicals, homeopathic medicine, and/or acupuncture and Asian medicine.
Naturopathic medicine plays an important role in integrative health care, and treatments can be used on their own or together with conventional medicine.

What to Expect During Your First Visit
During your initial visit, your Naturopathic Doctor will gather information on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
This will include a thorough overview of your health history and physical exams. Your Naturopathic Doctor may also recommend lab work in order to better understand your health concerns. Some of the most frequently used lab tests include standard blood work, IgG Food Sensitivity Testing, Comprehensive Stool Analysis, SIBO Testing, and Salivary Hormone Testing.
An individualized plan that best suits your needs will then be established. Treatment usually begins on the first visit, but if your case necessitates further investigation or lab testing, treatment may begin at the second visit. Overall, this first initial visit should take around 1.5 hours.
