Dr. Carrie Johnston

Clinic Director/Chiropractor

Dr. Carrie Johnston’s path to becoming a chiropractor began at Queen’s University, where she completed both her Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and Bachelor of Science.  She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Ontario, in 2008.

Dr. Johnston is an evidence-based chiropractor who continually strives to further her education to provide patients with the best possible care. As such, she is certified in the Webster Technique (International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association), Active Release Techniques®, Graston Technique®, and has taken courses in Mulligan Mobilizations.

Athletics have always been a large and integral part of Dr. Johnston’s life and are one of the main reasons she chose to enter the chiropractic profession.  Dr. Johnston has an extensive background in both singles and synchronized skating, and now enjoys recreational pursuits such as golf, running, waterskiing, wake surfing, and strength training.

In addition to the above education, Dr. Johnston is also a Level 2 Certified Golf Medical Professional through the Titleist Performance Institute.  This has allowed her to integrate her love of golf with her passion for optimizing health and performance.

Dr. Johnston is excited to work with you to reach and exceed your health and performance goals.

Dr. Brent Burton

Chiropractor

Proud to serve the community he was raised in, Dr. Brent Burton has been a chiropractor in Ottawa since 2006.  He studied Biology and Geography at Carleton University before going on to graduate Cum Laude and with Clinic Honours from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.

Dr. Burton focuses on restoring mobility and improving body functionality using evidence-based techniques.  He strives to ensure that patients can not only remain symptom-free but also maintain active lifestyles.  He has taken additional courses in Active Release Technique®, Graston Technique®, and Trigenics in order to fit patient’s needs.

Dr. Burton’s experience has allowed him to work with both professional and amateur athletes and performers, including Ottawa’s professional football team.  Additionally, Dr. Burton maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys a variety of sports, including snowboarding and ultimate (frisbee), where he has competed multiple times at the Canadian Ultimate Championships.

Getting involved in the community is important to Dr. Burton, and as such, he has given public health talks on concussion recognition and management, exercise, disease prevention, and many more topics.

He has also volunteered with the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the Ottawa Carleton Ultimate Association, the Ontario Disc Sport Association, Ultimate Canada, the Ottawa Good Companions Senior Center, and the Ottawa Army Run.

Dr. Burton looks forward to working with you and is passionate about helping you maximize your health potential.

Nat Galloway, Strength Coach

Strength Coach

Nat is a British Army Veteran with a passion for fitness and helping people achieve their best. Nat began his training career while providing strength and conditioning training to the British Army Combat Shooting Team.  Since then, he has worked with a variety of populations, including current and prospective service members, athletes, and everyone in between. At Foundations, Nat works closely with the other practitioners to implement training as an adjunct to their patients’ care plans. Nat is passionate about the principle that fitness is for everyone. From competitive athletes and powerlifters to desk workers and parents/grandparents who want to play with their little ones; Nat will help you ‘train for life’.

In addition to being Foundations’ in-house strength coach, Nat is a competitive Powerlifter, Personal Trainer and owner of Galloway Media Photography and Chosen Men Barbell Apparel. When he isn’t at working or at the gym, you can usually find Nat taking his dog Gimli for walks.

Janice Wiggins, NNCP

Registered Natural Nutritionist

Janice is passionate about helping people optimize their health so they can live the life of their dreams. As a registered natural nutritional practitioner (NNCP), with specialized training as a Sport Nutritionist, Health Coach and Exercise Coach, she has helped hundreds of clients find a healthy balance in their lives
using a holistic approach that encompasses nutrition, sleep, movement, and lifestyle.

Janice’s motto is “work smarter, not harder” and she loves sharing simple tips and tricks she has learned from her years of studies, as well as from overcoming her own personal health struggles, to get her clients feeling on form. She centres her nutritional approach on nourishing whole foods that fuel the body and has vast experience creating personalized nutrition plans from basic nutrition through to therapeutic plans and body composition coaching.

Outside of work, Janice is an enthusiastic home cook, keen weightlifter, and proud mother of two humans and one feline.

Taofiq Aziz, M.Sc. PT

Physiotherapist

Taofiq completed his Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa, where he developed a passion for orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation. He uses a patient-centred approach to guide and educate his clients so that they are knowledgeable about their injury and the rehab process moving forward. He implements an evidence-based practice with a focus on manual therapy, myofascial release and rehabilitative exercises to promote an active road to recovery. Taofiq is devoted to helping his clients reduce their pain and improve their functional measures such as strength, mobility, and endurance to support his clients in their rehab and fitness goals.

Taofiq is very passionate about leading a physically active lifestyle, which originally sparked his interest in exercise science, leading him to pursue a B.Sc. in Kinesiology at Western University. During this time, he had the opportunity to work as a varsity strength and conditioning coach and later as the athletic therapist for the men’s and women’s varsity soccer team, which helped him gain invaluable experience treating sports related injuries and developing preventative rehab programs to keep his athletes healthy and performing at a high level.

During his free time, Taofiq loves to stay active by strength training, running and playing Spikeball. The next big challenge is training for his first marathon in the spring! He also enjoys exploring new parts of the city for the scenery and the local cafés, always searching for the next aromatic bag of espresso beans to make at home.

Taofiq can provide physiotherapy services in English and French!

Office Administrator

Amy comes from the outdoor capital of Ontario: Muskoka. Growing up she was a dedicated figure skater, dancer, and rugby player. Her passion for physical wellness led her down the path to study mental health resulting in the completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Carleton University.

Amy is passionate about helping her community. Outside of the office, she dedicates her time to Ottawa Victim Services as well as the Ottawa Mission. Outside of work, Amy is also a keen plant keeper, tree lover, and audiophile. Amy is looking forward to meeting you soon!
